Small Teasers

After a weekend of working, Pearlie-sitting, dog-sitting, cat-sitting, hen-sitting, fish-sitting and boyfriend-sitting I'm not quite so sure that I stand by my drunken proclamation that, as soon as I get back from South America, I'm having babies, whether there's a father or not! Obviously I would need a father for the initial impregnation but so intent on having babies 'twas I, in my drunkeness, that I felt the whole "waiting for the right man" was completely irrelevant to family-making.

So...ya. That was my biological clock ticking very loudly, very brazenly and very drunkenly. But, like I say, after this weekend I'm not so sure I'm ready for parenthood any time soon. Being mum, Bert and me rolled into one was tough enough. Most importantly though, I missed getting out and seeing people. That's what makes the weekend for me. If I was a mum I'd have to say goodbye to my social life and I don't want to do that anytime soon.

I'm wearing my new glasses. They are good because I can see things better but they are bad because they cost me stupid money and they make malteasers look smaller. They don't make other things look smaller though so maybe I'm just wishing the malteasers were bigger. One day I will bathe in malteasers. Having said that, it would be a real waste.

Everything looks smaller as you get older. Sad isn't it.............

True. I guess things do get smaller as you get bigger. Having said that, I eat malteasers a lot and they do vary in size. I musta got a packet of mostly small ones.

Ok, so this is the age old question: Are chocolate bars, biscuits, etc. smaller than they used to be or are we just getting bigger?

YAF - you have a penchant for wagon wheels?? Bert's rather fond of them too. The jammy ones.

You don't have to say goodbye to your social life. That's what Nellybert are for.

I guess technically, Nellybert do owe me one for Pearlie and dog-sitting.

Dad, I'm assuming that last comment was you. I'll send you a pic of me in my incredibly expensive glasses very soon xx

I used to love Wagon Wheels, the jammy ones were a special treat - but you ask Bert, they used to be twice the size!

Also, since when did it become impossible to get Paris Buns with jam inside AND sugar on the outside? It's either/or these days if you can find the damn things at all. My God, I am getting old....

Bert says Wagon Wheels were much bigger back in the day. I've never eaten a Paris bun before but if I'd known they had jam in them, or were at least meant to...

I can't tell you how sad it makes me that you have never eaten a Paris Bun! You have missed out on one of the joys of living in Ireland. Buy some today, if they haven't got jam in them then cut them in half and put a big dollop of strawberry jam on and close it up again. Wolf it down with a big glass of cold milk, or if you don't like that a glass of old fashioned brown or red lemonade, another local delicacy! You won't regret it.

Maybe Paris buns could fill the void in my life! Have to try them for sure. You've just inspired a post about the joys of food!
